Reading of the Declaration of Colonial Rights: “Their Indisputable Rights & Privileges”

This free public event in the courtyard outside Carpenters’ Hall will commemorate the end of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and allow visitors to hear first-hand the inspiring words that propelled the American colonies towards independence. Special guests including Sen. Larry FarneseRep. Mary Isaacson, Councilman Mark Squilla and Denise VanBuren from the Daughters of the American Revolution will read from the primary documents issued by the Congress, including the Declaration of Colonial Rights, the Articles of Association, the Petition to the King and the Letter to the People of Great Britain. After the reading, tour Carpenters’ Hall and see original artifacts from the First Continental Congress.

Due to COVID-19, we are doing our utmost to keep this event safe. Mask wearing is mandatory, and registration is limited so we can control social distancing.
