Vertical Forests, Meadow Roofs and other Plant-based Systems to Beat the Heat
Climate Scientists predict that within 30 years, Philadelphia will spend as many as 74 days a year above 90 degrees (F) – almost 7 weeks more than we experience now.
We can remove CO2 from the atmosphere and cool our city using biophilic urbanist solutions – ones that incorporate the only truly ‘green’ air conditioning available – trees and plants. As always, bioPhilly is bringing together a diverse group of experts from the fields of biophilic design, urban ecology and forestry, public health and policy, community engagement, and construction to explore the Urban Heat Island Effect (UHI) and its inequitable impacts. Please join us for a productive and uplifting discussion. Refreshments will be served.
5:30pm: Join us for local vendor exhibits, networking, light fare and drinks. Panel discussion starts at 6:30pm.
