Cyclists are invited to experience a hassle-free overnight bike camping trip over the Memorial Day weekend on the next Bikeout group ride. The popular event, hosted by the
Pennsylvania Environmental Council, promises a weekend of adventure and outdoor fun along Greater Philadelphia’s Circuit Trails network.
Riders will gather near the Art Museum in downtown Philadelphia and travel approximately 38 miles along the scenic Schuylkill River and the Perkiomen Creek before spending the night at
Camp Kweebec and riding back to Center City the following day. Staff will transport all gear, leaving participants free to enjoy the ride with guidance from Bikeout volunteers and mechanical support from
Keystone Bicycle Co. The event is open to cyclists of all skill levels, ages 14+.
A celebration of the
400-mile Circuit Trails network, the route follows the Schuylkill River Trail along old canalways and historic railroad corridors offering scenic views in a natural setting. Riders will pause for a rest at Valley Forge National Historical Park before continuing north on the Perkiomen Trail to Schwenksville. After a short distance on-road, the ride rolls into Camp Kweebec, a charming summer camp where participants can look forward to an afternoon of games, swimming, relaxing by the lake, a hearty meal, and a campfire under the night sky. Riders can choose to sleep in a cabin or a tent in a large open field, with restrooms and showers available for both options. Sunday morning will begin with breakfast in the dining hall and fresh-brewed coffee provided by Reanimator Coffee Roasters before cyclists begin the journey back to the Art Museum.
